Whale Watching from Mal País & Santa Teresa
Humpbacks pass our coast 9 months of the year. Small private boats, expert captains, way fewer tourists than Osa Peninsula tours.
Two Seasons. Two Different Whale Populations.
The southern Nicoya Peninsula is special: we get humpbacks from BOTH hemispheres, giving you almost 9 months of whale-spotting opportunities.
Jul – Nov · Southern Humpbacks
From Antarctica to breed and give birth. Most active behaviour: breaches, tail slaps, singing males.
Dec – Mar · Northern Humpbacks
From Alaska & Pacific Northwest. Calm seas, mothers with calves, frequent sightings.
